Embark on a breathtaking four-day tour from Marrakech, immersing yourself in the stunning landscapes and vibrant culture of Morocco. This unforgettable journey takes you through the High Atlas Mountains, the magnificent Merzouga and Erg Chebbi dunes, and a night under the Sahara sky in a Berber camp.

Summer Note (April – September):

To ensure comfort during the summer heat, one night will be spent in a Berber-style camp and the second night in a hotel at the edge of the dunes (Riad Chebbi or similar). This allows for access to air conditioning and other hotel amenities, making your stay more comfortable despite the temperatures often exceeding 40°C (100°F).

Itinerary:

Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Dades/Tinghir (Depart 7-8 AM; Arrive 7-8 PM)

– Driving Distance: 5 hours 40 minutes

– Begin your adventure with a drive towards Ait Ben Haddou in the High Atlas Mountains. This historical kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is both architecturally impressive and culturally significant. After lunch near the kasbah, continue to your accommodations for the night.

Day 2: Dadès – Todra Gorges – Merzouga (Depart 8-9 AM; Arrive 5-7 PM)

– Driving Distance: 4 hours 45 minutes

– Journey to the vibrant dunes of Merzouga, stopping to visit the Todra Gorges and enjoy lunch along the way. At sunset, saddle up for a camel ride and prepare for an unforgettable evening amidst the golden sands of one of Morocco’s most spectacular deserts. Spend the night under star-filled skies in traditional Berber tents.

Day 3: Merzouga Excursion – Visit Nomads of the Sahara Desert

– Start your day with a breathtaking sunrise atop the Erg Chebbi dunes. Explore the desert landscapes in a 4×4, visit local nomads, and learn about their unique lifestyle. Enjoy traditional Berber cuisine and Gnaoua music. Conclude your day with dinner and a campfire accompanied by Berber music under the starry desert sky.

Day 4: Merzouga – Ouarzazate – Marrakech (Depart 8-9 AM; Arrive 7-9 PM)

– Driving Distance: 8 hours 30 minutes

– After breakfast, embark on a camel trek back to Merzouga. Journey through the desert and traverse the High Atlas Mountains, arriving back in Marrakech by nightfall.

– The guide in Ait Ben Haddou is not included but can be joined for around €2 per person.
